Update

I don’t know if I can cope anymore. I was doing so well and suddenly I am shedding which is breaking my heart. I understand everyone with hair sheds but when you have alopecia every single strand takes a piece of your soul. Will I ever be normal? I’m not asking a lot just to have enough hair to make me feel like I am a real person and not someone to pity and stare at because “I don’t look normal”. This condition is so hard. You get the highest of highs then you are kicked in the teeth and have the lowest of lows. Is it so wrong to want to be human and like everyone else. I don’t know if I have enough tears to cry. I’m so low right now. I have been in a happy bubble for over a year and one little patch has ruined me and my psyche. I’m a failure yet again. All I want is hair. Is it wrong to want to be like every other woman in the world? Why is having no hair such a shameful thing for us ladies. It’s not just ladies men have this condition as well and have to suffer alone. In the p...

The worst news

Image
I want to cry right now.  2 days ago I found a 10p sized bald patch on the left side of my head. Today it’s the size of at least a 50p. What’s weird is where has that part of my tattoo gone?     Devastated does not come close to how I am feeling right now. I was so hopeful and I am worried this is it for me again. I was doing so well and I have been so happy having hair, I know the top hasn’t grown the way I want but I can live with that. It sounds silly but having a ponytail has been so exciting for me as it’s a dream come true for me. However the bald patch today had sent me in a spiral as all I can think about is how it used to be. I am trying to tell myself that unlike before I am not losing clumps of hair but I don’t know if I can cope with losing all my hair again. I had a dream and scared that this is been taken away by the evil that is alopecia. I fu**ing hate this. I am so ashamed to post this but when I started this blog I promised I would be honest and I...

Myths and so called cures

Image
Hi guys Recently I have been getting a lot of questions about the treatments I have tried in the past! I am also a nurse and need to research things and I have tried everything I can think of.  I have had advice from fellow nurses and also from people who have alopecia all of which has been a waste of time and money in many cases a waste of time and money. Below are things I have tried.  Omega diet- was disgusting and did nothing.  Private “alopecia specialist” he suggested pure nicotine liquid. That stunk so bad and did nothing.  Vodka and cayenne pepper. Didn’t work but could have been arrested as I stunk of alcohol.  On top of that I have tried various vitamins, diets and potions.  I think what I am trying to say is, that for me nothing worked and all I did was waste money and time on distant hopes of having hair. If anyone out there has a genuine cure for AU, reach out, but for now I will stick to the medication given by the hospital. I don’t car...

Is this for life?

I have been getting a lot of questions about Litfulo and how long you need to be on it. As far as I know from the specialists and the research I have done it seems to be a medication you take for life. A few people have taken it and stopped and within weeks they have gone back to been bald or having significant hair loss again. I can only speak for myself when I say this medication has been a miracle for me, having hair again is helping my confidence return and I have had zero side effects. Don’t get me wrong it’s scary but the only thing I am scared of is been taken off the tablets. I honestly don’t think I could cope if that was to happen. Despite been on Litfulo I still constantly check for shredding and touch wood, so far, nothing but every day is a battle of hope and despair. This medication has been a dream come true for me. I just hope and prey I will continue the way I am. God bless to you all, reach out if you need me.   Dare to dream xxxx

Nearly a year. WOW!

Hi everyone, I know I’m usually really positive and happy about things but I’m having a bit of a bad week this week. I’ve been looking at the pictures and it’s like will my hair ever grow back properly? I just want to have hair at the top of my head and I’m scared they’re gonna take me off the medication and that is the most petrifying to me. I really really need to be on this medication because it has changed my life. I know if I stopped taking it I’m gonna be bald within probably a month maybe longer, I don’t know but just having the hair I’ve got right now means so much to me and I just want to be normal, is it wrong that I want to be a normal person again, people without hair loss will not understand this at all. NO HATE PLEASE!. People say “oh it’s just hair”.  no it’s not just hair is an amazing thing which most people do not and hopefully will never understand. I love the fact that I have eyebrows I have an eyelashes which I have not had for so long and the thought of...

Hi all Not been on for a few weeks as I wanted to show the growth as you don’t really see the difference if I post too often.  The top is slowly starting to fill in and it’s so long in the back I can put it in a tiny ponytail.  Also for those asking I spoke to dermatology the other day and they said there is no problem having the Covid jab as well as the flu jabs as they are not live so go ahead and have yours Dare to dream xxxx
